A knowledgeable local driver guide will be on hand all throughout your tour.
Your tour guide will pick you up at our prearranged point in the York area and take you to our first stop at Low Bell End Farm where you will meet farmer Tracey who will serve you a delicious farm reared pheasant sausage sandwich from the converted barn, while telling you all about life on the farm as you enjoy the views across historic Rosedale. A 30 minute drive over the famous heather moorland and down through the stunning Fryup dales brings us to a special community in the village of Botton. This totally self-sufficient village has a beautiful purpose to support people with learning difficulties. The residents live and work in the village and produce everything from fruit and veg, their own meat, cheeses and baked goods. Your hosts will give you a short tour showing you the village and you will have the opportunity to sample some of their award winning products. You will have a chance to wander the village and shops on your own before we follow a 45 minute scenic route to the wonderful town of Helmsley. We head straight to the historic Black Swan Hotel which dates back to the Tudor Period. We will meet the team and sample their sweet local desserts. After a little free time to explore Helmsley we take the short drive to Ampleforth Abbey and College, a working abbey famous for its Apple orchards and cider. Their guide will take us to the ancient orchards and help us discover the abbey’s history and taste some of the delicious cider and liquors. From here we head back to York through some quaint villages and rolling Yorkshire countryside, satisfied we have discovered a true taste of Yorkshire.
Low Bell End Farm
A farm situated in beautiful Rosedale producing home reared meats and delicious meals, including our signature pheasant sausages, all from our own land. Vegetarians are welcome!
Part of the very special Camphill Community in Danby Dale, the creamery produces six very special cheeses from a small herd of Ayreshires and dairy shorthorns. Explore the village!
Black Swan Hotel
A great historic hotel dating back five centuries, we visit their charming and traditional tearoom which has been voted Top Tea Place where you can sample cakes in the cake capital
Take a short tour around the orchards where Benedictine monks have been brewing cider for over 200 years. They have a very good range of apple products so tea totallers welcome!
We can pick up at your own chosen spot within the York area. We have based our map on the York Minster as this is a central point in York but we can arrange a pick up point which will be suit your requirements.Get Directions
