Five Places to Treat your Mother on Mother’s Day

Posted on February 26, 2018 | By Kay Atkinson

She’s the one who loves you no matter what.   The one who is your greatest cheerleader.  Mother’s Day is about showing her you love and appreciate her support.  Treat her nicely. Here some ideas how.

  • Share the love with a Harrogate Food Tour

Expressing your love through sharing food is age old. Family dinners, a coffee and a catch up, celebration feasts, the passing down of loved family recipes – and Mother’s Day is no different.   Instead of going for the traditional lunch out with Mum, treat her to a lunch with a difference.  Instead of just one restaurant, she will get to visit 5 independent eateries and get to taste several small ‘courses’ as we meander around the town, discovering the beautiful culture and fascinating history of this amazing town. Learn about the food and the people behind it and share an experience to remember.

  1. A Perfect Afternoon Treat

Vintage crockery, delightful surroundings, perfect cakes, cupcakes and sandwiches and a decent pot of tea – your Mum will love Mama Doreen’s Cupcake Emporium for Afternoon Tea.    It really is a special occasion every time in this family run tea room – everything is exquisitely presented and taste’s absolutely divine.  The staff are friendly and the attention to detail makes it a lovely event to share with your loved ones.

  1. A Retreat from the Big Wild World

Rudding Park Spa spent a fortune on its refurbishment and the fact they did not scrimp is clear for all to see.  If your mother likes to relax then this is the perfect place.  The invigoration of swimming outdoors in beautifully warm waters followed by the chance to relax in a multitude of surroundings; looking at the starts, listening to music, watching the great outdoors go by, or all three will leave your Mum loving you just that little bit more!

Tel Rudding Park   01423 871350.

  1. A Make-Up Lesson

Is your Mother still doing her make up the same as when she was 20, wants to update but not sure how?   A make up lesson with a local make up artist extraordinaire will do the trick. Mel England is offering 20% off a two hour one-to-one make up lesson. It is also great value if you book a lesson for the both of you at the same time – what’s more fun than that!   Have a look at the website to see what a difference good make up can make!  07946 461321

  1. Try out Harrogate’s Hidden Gem

The Wild Plum Café.  It’s a bit off the beaten track but do find your way to Hookstone Road and enter the café through the elegant dresses of Snooty Frox to find this real gem of a place to have lunch.  The food is fantastic and beautifully presented. The staff are always friendly and attentive regardless of how busy they are and there are some absolutely delicious salads on the menu as well as a mouth watering selection of cakes. They often have special lunches so it would be wise to book well in advance.  Do not miss trying out this place.     Tel: 01423 815320
