Yorkshire Appetite Food Tours want to give a HUGE thank you to all our visitors over the last two years who have supported us and in particular those who wrote us a lovely review on Trip Advisor. We achieved a Certificate of Excellence for 2019 about which we are absolutely delighted. We get a lot of people coming to us based on our reviews so we are extremely grateful to each and every one of you who wrote one! Yes, it is TWO years since we ran our first tour and it has been a great two years, we have met so many lovely and interesting people and learnt so many things ourselves. Our tasting partners have been a huge support, welcoming the visitors and ensuring the high standard of our offerings. The Harrogate Tour continues to grow and we have added a Vegan Tour, an Afternoon Tea Tour and our York Tour – all delivering flavoursome offerings. Thank you everyone – here is to another good year.
Now as you know, we love a food tour, so we decided to check out our Spanish competitors. Louise (our Vegan and York guide) and myself were guided around Malaga on a Tapas tour by Felipe and while I need no persuading about the heavenly nature of Spanish cuisine, there were even more delectable dishes I was new to – gazpachuelo and pinchito de entraña. His knowledge and passion about both the food and the city was second to none and the whole experience reminded me of why I love food tours – a culinary and cultural adventure indeed. So if anyone is heading off to Malaga in the future, take time out to enjoy a tour with Spain Food Sherpas. I also tried the local dish of ‘choto en salsa de almendras’ which was delicious but – vegans look away now – it may have involved a baby goat and some almonds. All in the name of research of course.
We have a new cake supplier on our Vegan Tour – stopping at Starling for dessert – our visitors are presented with an enticing cake made by Mr Vegan Cakes himself. Andrew is a friend of Yorkshire Appetite Food Tours, selflessly volunteering himself and family to test out our vegan tour when we started it last September! It was a pleasure to have him on the tour and we are delighted he is now ‘involved’ in a roundabout way! He is a most excellent baker and our ‘bake off’ claim to fame in that he made it through to the telephone interview stage – your time will come, Mr VC, your time will come. Follow him on facebook and just look at the cakes he makes, they look and taste scrumptious so if you need a healthy celebration cake or just a cake for cake’s sake, he’s your man.
