The Yorkshire Appetite Food Tours story
Established in 2017

Our Founder, Kay Atkinson, discovered her first food tour by accident while on holiday in Chicago. She was looking for something for her and her friend to do. She stumbled across a food tour and has never looked back.
With our great food, great destinations and great independent restaurants, Kay knew food tours would go down well in Yorkshire.
After attending a food tour workshop in Chicago, she launched Yorkshire Appetite Food Tours in 2017 with our Harrogate tour. Over the years, we’ve expanded our offering and now have experiences in York, Leeds and Ripon.
We also have our Afternoon Tea Tour in Harrogate and our most traditional offering, the Taste of Yorkshire Food Tour in York.
We also offer private tasting trips, if you’d like something more bespoke. If you’re looking to treat someone, our gift vouchers make the perfect present.
Whether you’re visiting the region or live locally, we want you to love our Yorkshire and its food as much as we do.

What people say about our food tours
EXCELLENT Based on 352 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Gillian SVerified Beautiful Harrogate What an amazing tour of Harrogate! . Kay, our lovely guide showed us around telling us historical and fun facts about this beautiful town. The places she chose to stop for food and drinks were a great mix and it was lovely to support small businesses. We were part of a fun group of people and the sun was shining so it was a very pleasant way to spend a few hours! We would definitely recommend this tour.Posted on Tripadvisor Alexandra DVerified Great experience! Would thoroughly recommend. Great mix of good and information about Harrogate with a lovely group of people. Kay got the perfect balance between the food, the tour and the information. Great to see parts of Harrogate we’d never seen before and to try dishes from independent businesses. Thank you!Posted on Tripadvisor Louise IVerified Hidden foodie gems with excellent commentary What a lovely time we had on the York Foodie Tour ☺️ Kay was really knowledgeable about York with some interesting and fun facts. Restaurants were just perfect … and some off the beaten track so it was great to find some hidden gems. Starters in one, mains in another, then onto dessert finished off cheese and wine 🍷. Kay was great company as well 👍. Truly enjoyable, highly recommend *****Posted on Tripadvisor randjjVerified Excellent food tour York food tour started at 12 pm where we met Sara or tour guide, she was very friendly and started by giving us some of York's history. We start off at a cheese and wine venue followed by a Syrian mezze, then on to a brewery and food pub and finished at a restaurant for a sticky toffee pudding and a drink. All the venues were independent no chains, our tour lasted over three hours because we had a big friendly group, we would definitely do it again. many thanks to Sara for a great afternoon.Posted on Tripadvisor KarenSVerified York Food Tour My husband and I were gifted this for a birthday treat and what a treat it was. Joined by 2 other lovely couples we were taken to 4 very different food venues over a 3 hour period. A Syrian starter, main course at a local brewery, a fantastic sticky toffee pudding desert and finished off with a cheese and wine pairing. Jill was a great host, very knowledgable. A lovely way to spend an afternoon in York.Posted on Tripadvisor Ben MVerified The best way to get to know Harrogate We were delighted to be guided around the Harrogate food scene by Kay. A really great mix of genuinely local and excellent food and some really great insights into the history of the establishments and of Harrogate as a whole. As a side note we're currently back in one of the restaurants for dinner as we enjoyed it so much.Posted on Tripadvisor Jogleah2011Verified Walking food tour of York Spent a lovely afternoon in the company of Sara visiting 4 different places in York with a tour of some of the maze like streets of York in the process. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the food and the company. We had a throughly enjoyable afternoon and the weather was great to .Posted on Tripadvisor Karen JVerified Lovely educational tasting tour Really enjoyed today’s tour of Harrogate with our guide Kay who was very informative and introduced us to x5 different excellent venues and dishes. We will definitely be visiting them again. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it. Never felt rushed and it was very well organised and well paced.Posted on Tripadvisor Kate CVerified Snacks, strolling and learning with the lovely Jill Amazing walking food tour with Jill. This was our second walking tour (the last was in York) but this time we had a private tour which was well worth the £50 supplement charge. Tried a variety of new food that neither of us had tried before. Great selection of venues and incredible local history knowledge. Would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys food, history and good company.
