HOME AND AWAY, and OFFERS today...
The Harrogate Food and Drink Festival on the Stray at the end of June was a real doozy! With plenty of space, entertainment for the children as well as the adults, music and a plethora of interesting food to try, it really was a great social event in our new world. We had many visitors to our stall from near and far who we were delighted to meet and of course we got to mingle with many Yorkshire food and drink producers who are just our kind of people! We had a prize draw to win a Yorkshire Goodie Box and we can say a huge congratulations to Sarah Long who was picked in our live draw which you can watch here. Don’t worry if you missed out as there is another Harrogate Food and Drink Festival at Ripley Castle at the end of August over the Bank Holiday so do come and say hello.
Do you like a podcast? There is to be a new one released soon called “A Taste of Harry Gration’s Yorkshire”. It is brought to us by dynamic duo Director Roy Player and Presenter Harry Gration, veterans of Look North at the BBC and much more. Focusing on our great county of Yorkshire, it will look at the many elements that contribute to make this a uniquely special county; food, cricket, and so much more. We are delighted that the first episode will be centred on our Harrogate Food Tour. Harry and Roy came on the tour in June and we were able to show them the truly delicious flavour of Harrogate, Harrogate is more than just Bettys you know (Fred and Nadia!). With interviews with the passionate people at our Tasting Partners we hope it will give people a taste of the town and encourage them to try something a little bit different. I’ll keep you posted on broadcast dates!
I had the opportunity recently to try out another food tour and was delighted to be the guest at Taste Porto Food Tours in Portugal. A delightful experience and everything a food tour should be. The perfect way at the beginning of a visit to get the lay of the land; food AND geography wise. Joana our guide was a Porto native whose knowledge and passion for her hometown knew no bounds. The food – and wine (lots of) – were delicious and I discovered the delights of the Bifana, a traditional sandwich made with thin slices of pork marinated in a sauce of white wine, garlic and paprika, tasty beyond belief and the queijo de serra, a sheep’s cheese as creamy as butter. Another Portuguese delight is of course the Pastel de Nata, the Portuguese Custard Tart, a distant cousin of the Yorkshire Curd Tart. I was in danger of actually turning into one by the end so it’s probably best to be home.
Finally, a couple of offers to tempt you into another food tour. A Staycation flash sale for our Thursday 22nd and Saturday 24th July Harrogate tours for £42 pp.
