And the winner is...New and Exciting Things for 2023
December 2022

Thank you to all of you this year for supporting us and therefore supporting our independents. Everyone is feeling the pinch so thank you for keeping us all going. Thanks too for all of you who stopped for a chat at the Christmas Artisan market in the Valley Gardens in Harrogate these last couple of weekends. Since I discovered the heated gilet, life has been very different! And much more comfortable! Now I just need some heated socks or boots. The winner of our prize draw has been picked – please see our live draw RIGHT HERE – and a goodie box will be on its way soon.
There is still time to buy a gift voucher before Christmas, last year we had a purchase ON Christmas Day, now that’s what I call last minute. Think about those January days when you fancy a trip out and some delicious food, unfortunately our prices are having to rise slightly in the new year to reflect increased costs to our independents so buy or book before Christmas (for after Christmas!) to take advantage of today’s prices.
There are exciting projects for the year ahead which we can announce in January but let’s give you some teasers. Food Tourism is growing and more and more food tours are available for your enjoyment around the UK. Yorkshire Appetite visited a couple of them recently (Kelham Island in Sheffield and Scranchester in, yes you guessed it, Manchester) supposedly for research to see if we can further improve our offering but really because we love them! Pleased to bump into some visitors from our York Tour now on the Manchester tour so haven’t put them off Food Tours! We are going to be launching an academy to bring together all the food tour operators and encourage new people to take on what is a fantastic opportunity to share your love of your local food and area so keep your eyes peeled. Not only that, we have some new experiences in development. Oooh, exciting.
Yorkshire Appetite are also going on tour! Our two Harrogate guides: Kay and Jill are embarking on a French adventure – zut alors! – to bring you some food adventures from France discovering the French versions of our Yorkshire classics and to provide you with inspiration for your own food adventures. We start the build up in January and off we pop in March. Fear not! We have some fantastic new guides in training to make sure Harrogate tours are as enjoyable as ever.
Before we go, I just want to recommend the Scranchester Tour of Manchester (I’m pretty sure even southerners will get the title). Rob, the guide, is a wealth of information about the city, being born and bred, with the accompanying great sense of humour. You’ll find there’s a lot more to Manchester than rain and things premier footballers complain about! The food was high end tasty local fare and the venues have given us a list of places to return to on our next visit. See our video RIGHT HERE to get a taste (see what I did there).
Happy Christmas everyone and see you in 2023!!
